Bangkok has quietly become one of the world’s capitals of aesthetic medicine. Locals treat a Botox top-up the way Londoners treat a dentist appointment, prices run at a fraction of what clinics charge in Sydney or Seoul, and the standard of the good clinics is genuinely high. The catch is the word “good” — the city has hundreds of clinics, and if you’re new here, a treatment that involves needles and your face is not the place to gamble. So we sent one of our team for a full session at Aura Bangkok Clinic — Botox, cheek filler and an Ultraformer III lift in one sitting — to see how one of the city’s biggest names actually handles a patient from walk-in to walk-out.

Who Aura Bangkok Clinic actually is
If you’ve spent any time in Bangkok you’ve seen the name — the pale-blue branding is on billboards along the expressway and in half the major malls. Aura has grown into one of Thailand’s largest aesthetic chains, with 19 branches across Bangkok and the provinces, and it’s been picking up industry hardware along the way, including Galderma’s Grand Excellence Award as a large-chain clinic — the kind of recognition that comes from volume done properly, not from a marketing budget.
Two things matter more than the trophies, though. First, treatments are doctor-led: you’re assessed and injected by a physician, not handed to a technician after a sales chat. Second — and this is the tell we always look for — the waiting rooms are full of Thais. Clinics that survive on one-off tourist traffic behave very differently from clinics that live or die on Bangkok locals coming back every few months. Aura is firmly the second kind.
First impressions
Our writer’s session took place at the Sathorn branch — the one we’d point visitors to anyway (more on getting there below). The first impression is closer to a well-run boutique hotel than a hospital: warm wood, white counters and soft seating, spotless everywhere you look. You’re greeted, seated, offered water, and the check-in is calm and unhurried — no clipboard thrust at you, no hard sell shouting from the walls.
Staff switch comfortably into English, which matters more than it sounds — when someone is about to put a needle in your face, you want zero ambiguity about what’s being done and why.
The consultation — where good clinics show their hand
Every treatment starts with a sit-down with a doctor, and this was the part of the visit that impressed us most. The doctor took time over our writer’s actual concerns — fine lines, some loss of firmness — rather than working from a script, explained what each treatment would and wouldn’t do, and walked through the process step by step. Nothing felt rushed, and nothing extra was pushed. That last point is worth underlining: the quickest way to spot a clinic you should walk out of, anywhere in the world, is a consultation that turns into a sales pitch. This one never did.
The plan they landed on together: Botox for fine lines, one cc of filler in each cheek, and an Ultraformer III lifting session at 400 shots. All three in a single visit, which is standard practice and one of the reasons people fold a clinic day into a Bangkok trip.
The treatments
Botox for fine lines
The workhorse of aesthetic medicine: tiny injections that relax the muscles behind expression lines. The session itself is quick — a series of small pinpricks, a few minutes per area, no downtime beyond some possible pinpoint redness. Results aren’t instant; the smoothing drifts in over the following one to two weeks, which is worth knowing if you’re timing a treatment around an event or a holiday.
Cheek filler, 1 cc per side
Hyaluronic-acid filler placed to restore volume through the mid-face. This is the treatment where the doctor’s eye matters most — the difference between “fresh” and “done” is judgement, not product — and the conservative dosing here (one cc per side is a restrained, natural amount) reflected the tone of the whole consultation. The result is visible immediately, then settles and softens over a week or two. Expect the possibility of mild swelling or a small bruise at the injection site; our writer had neither by the next morning.
Ultraformer III, 400 shots
Ultraformer III is a HIFU device — focused ultrasound that heats the deeper support layers of the skin to trigger tightening and fresh collagen, without needles or cuts. “400 shots” refers to the number of ultrasound pulses delivered across the face. Honest description of the sensation: brief warm zaps, some sharper than others near the jaw and cheekbones — noticeable, never unbearable, and over in well under an hour. There’s a subtle immediate tightening, but HIFU is a slow burn: the real lift builds over two to three months as collagen rebuilds. It’s the treatment you have now to look better in season three, not tonight.
One general note that applies to any clinic, not just this one: these are medical procedures, and the right treatment plan depends entirely on your face, your skin and your history. A proper doctor consultation — which is free at Aura — beats anything you’ll read online, including this.
What it costs
Aura publishes its price ranges openly, which we like — Bangkok’s less reputable clinics tend to keep numbers foggy until you’re in the chair. Promotions are everywhere too, printed on cards at the counter and rotating on the in-branch screens, so the headline numbers move around a lot. These are the honest bands to budget against:

For context, comparable treatments in Australia, the UK or Singapore typically run two to four times these numbers — which is why “clinic day” has become a fixture of so many Bangkok itineraries. Thai banks’ cards are also deep in this market (KTC, for instance, runs 0% installment plans with Aura), which tells you how mainstream this is for locals.
Who it’s for — and who it isn’t
- Good fit: first-timers who want a doctor-led, English-speaking, no-pressure introduction to injectables; travellers folding a treatment into a Bangkok trip; expats who want a chain with enough branches that appointments are easy to keep.
- Also good: anyone nervous about the “dodgy clinic” horror stories — the doctor-first process here is specifically the antidote to that.
- Not the right fit: bargain-hunters chasing the absolute lowest price in the city (street-level clinics undercut the big chains — with corresponding trade-offs); anyone expecting surgical-level changes from non-surgical treatments; and if you don’t have a concern a doctor agrees is worth treating, the honest answer is to keep your money.
The honest bit
A few things to know before you book. Aura is popular, and the branches hum — walk-ins are possible but an appointment is the difference between a smooth hour and a waiting-room stint, especially evenings and weekends. This isn’t the cheapest needle in Bangkok either; you’re paying a premium over hole-in-the-wall clinics for the doctor-led process and the brand’s accountability, and we think that’s exactly the right trade for anyone reading this from abroad — but it’s a trade, and you should know you’re making it.
And plan your calendar sensibly: Botox takes up to two weeks to fully land, filler needs a few days to settle, and HIFU results build over months. If you’re visiting Thailand, do your clinic day early in the trip, not the afternoon before a red-eye home.
Getting to the Sathorn branch
The Sathorn flagship sits in Sathorn Nakorn Tower at the Chong Nonsi intersection — ground floor and 21st floor of the same building. Take the BTS Silom Line to Chong Nonsi station; the tower is at the foot of the station, a two-minute sheltered walk via the skybridge — you barely touch street level. By car or Grab, give the driver “Sathorn Nakorn Tower, North Sathorn Road”; the building has parking. If you’re staying elsewhere in the city, odds are there’s a branch near you anyway — Siam Square, CentralWorld, Asok, Thonglor and a dozen more.
